EXAMINATION SUCCESS FOR MOSSLEY HOLLINS’ STUDENTS

The headteacher, staff and governors of Mossley Hollins High School would like to congratulate our Year 11 students (The Class of 2022) for their successful performance in this year’s GCSE examinations. We are delighted that 81% of students have achieved a good grade in maths and English. We are particularly pleased with students’ performance in English where almost 90% of the cohort achieved a standard pass and almost ¾ of students achieved a strong pass. In mathematics 86% of students achieved a standard pass and two thirds of students achieved a strong pass. We are delighted to report that pupils from less advantaged backgrounds performed well with 62% achieving good grades in maths and English.

We are so very proud of the exceptional performances by individual students including Noah Cooke who achieved the much coveted grade 9 in all 10 of his subjects and Kiah Lees who achieved grade 9 in 8 of her subjects and a grade 8 in the other. This means that these students are amongst the topperformers in the country as nationally only around 3% of students are expected to achieve grade 9. Congratulations also to Sophie Walker who achieved grade 9 in 8 subjects and 3 grade 8s, Amber Guy who achieved 5 grade 9s and 4 grade 8s and Zak Moreland who achieved 6 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s.

The school is also delighted to report astonishing progress in learning across the 5 years from Ahlam Ali, Jacob Bradley, Cassidy Clarke and Lucy Trunkfield, all of whom worked exceptionally hard despite, in some cases, very challenging circumstances and performed at a level way beyond expectations.

Headteacher Andrea Din says “I am so very proud of all of our students, particularly given the challenging circumstances which they have endured over the past few years. They have worked extremely hard and risen to so many challenges to secure results which will allow them to take the next steps into education, training or employment. Students’ achievement is very pleasing in a wide range of subjects particularly in separate science, where over 65% of students achieved grade 7 or above in chemistry, over 75% in biology and 69% in physics. Excellent achievement is also evident in drama where 46% of students achieved grade 7 or above, in music where 73% of students achieved grade 8 or above, in physical education where almost 40% of students achieved grade 7 or above and in food and nutrition where almost 30% of students achieved a grade 7 or above. I am delighted that the hard work of our students and staff has paid off”.

On behalf of the school, the Chair of Governors Mr John Denton and Executive Headteacher Mr Drew Duncan, I would like to thank our students for their hardwork and resilience, and the parents and families for their help, support and encouragement. I would also like to thank the staff for their tireless work, determination and resilience through what has been very challenging times in school; they have gone above and beyond to support our students. As always we look forward to hearing of the continued success of our students at college and beyond.
