Getting here

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks should you wish to ride to school. Getting to school by bus is also an option, see Getting Here page for more information. However, if you do need to travel by car, we ask that you please park wisely.

School Buses

School bus services help students aged 11 to 16 get to and from some Greater Manchester secondary schools. All students require an iGO Pass to travel on the school buses. 

Children who do not have iGO passes will continue to be charged a default single fare which, from September 2019, is £1.80. Children without iGO passes are also unable to buy either returns or weekly tickets.

Changes have recently been made to the fares which are charged on the majority of TfGM subsidised school buses. The fare structure has been simplified so that children are all charged a flat fare. 

For children with iGO passes, the new single fare will be £1.40, the new return fare will be £2.40 and the new cost of the school weekly ticket will be £7.40.There are still a number of school buses where fares are set by the operator and which will therefore be unaffected by these changes.

Services

There are a number of school services on offer to students to and from school, from various locations including Hyde, Stalybridge, Ashton-under-Lyne and Oldham.

iGO Passes

iGO passes are a great way to prove you qualify for child tickets on public transport. Once registered you can buy tickets up to 7 days in advance and will have any lost tickets with more than 7 days left to run replaced free of charge. Those aged over 13 can create their own account, those under the age of 13 will need to ask a parent/guardian to register on their behalf.
