Newsflash – Friday 26th April 2019

Message from the Headteacher

May I welcome back all our students for the summer term 2019. I am pleased to report that the students have comeback refreshed and ready to learn from their Easter break, especially the year 10 students who are busy with their PPE examinations. The next few weeks sees the start of the year 11 GCSE examinations and I was delighted to see so many students take advantage of the revision classes which teachers kindly provided over the Easter break. Interventions will continue into the examination period to support every young person so that they can make the best progress possible. Parents must not hesitate to contact school if they have any remaining questions or concerns about the forthcoming exams.

On Thursday this week, 40 of our mathematicians studied hard until 5.30pm at the Lal Quila restaurant on Manchester Road where they were rewarded for their effort with a delicious meal. We are grateful to our friends at the restaurant for providing this opportunity for a little ‘Food for Thought’.

Next week is year 9-parent partnership evening, which will also be an opportunity to decide on the final option choices for GCSE. As well as the usual meetings with teachers, there will be an options help desk where staff will be on hand to provide guidance on the process and information about the remaining GCSE option choices. I look forward to meeting many of our year 9 parents again on this important evening.

Congratulations and thank you to Christina and Xavier, our Head Girl and Boy, who spoke as part of a community event at Mossley Methodist Church during the holidays. Christina and Xavier told the large congregation about our school and our pride in being part of the Mossley community. They represented our school and what we stand for immaculately and were very warmly received.

Mr Marshall
