Message from the Headteacher

This week, the large majority of Year 11 students will complete their GCSE examinations. I am very aware that this is a challenging and anxious time for them but I am pleased to report that the examinations have passed without incident. This is down to the behaviour and attitudes of the students, but also to the excellent work of our dedicated team of examination officers and invigilators. We really could not do this without their help and I am most grateful for their hard work on behalf of the students.

I was delighted to receive a very positive message from a parent of one of our Year 11 students:

‘I am writing this email, firstly to thank you and your staff for the support my daughter has been given during her GCSEs. As a parent I was dreading this time but I feel that the support that the school has given her is fantastic. My daughter was really worried about her science exams. I wanted to make you fully aware of how Miss Walton has truly gone out of her way to support my daughter in every way. She has put extra interventions on at lunchtime and before school. These sessions have really helped her and she has gone into her exams feeling far more confident than she was before. Whatever her results are I know that there could not have been any more support from the school.

I work in a primary school and sometimes feel that you only hear from parents when there is a complaint and felt that I wanted to contact you to show the complete opposite. I would be grateful if you could forward this to Miss Walton and pass on our thanks, we really are very grateful.’

Thank you so much to Miss Walton, and all our teaching and support staff for their work on behalf of the students.
